These tours are generally one hour with student participation.
Students experience a "Working" depot in 1923. They meet the Station Agent, passengers, freight dock workers, Western Union telegrapher, Railway Express agent. The ticket agent will issue their Southern Pacific Depot ticket for the day. The students will also be able to see where the station agent and his family lived. Each person is dressed in 1923 apparel so students can enter the historical time change. Speaking of time - there are three unique clocks at the depot. Students have the opportunity to figure out why each clock is different. There are no cell phones in the depot, but students will encounter and can use three different phones from the 1920's. The telegrapher can send their messages in Morse Code. Students will be able to use the scale to determine the mass of shipping crates, as well as smaller packages in the Railway Express office. The Kingsburg Depot is on the railway constructed by the Big Five of the Transcontinental Railway. On a Living History Tour there are so many learning opportunities.
